FAQs
How often should I update or check my emergency supplies?
You should check your bugout bags every 3-6 months. It is important to rotate your perishable items (food, batteries, medicine, water), adjust for seasonal needs (warm clothes in winter, lighter gear in summer), and ensure nothing has expired, leaked, or been damaged. You should also review your full preparedness inventory every 6-12 months and follow the same guidelines used for your bugout bags.
Can I cancel my subscription?
You sure can! You can cancel at any time, no questions asked. And you will continue to have access to your account till the end of your billing cycle has been reached. And changing your mind is just as easy.
Can I grant access for my family to review and edit our inventory?
That is the most important part of our tool! Prepping is not a 1-man (or woman) job, but a family endeavor. We first provide you with the ability to include every member of your family so you can manage the prepping inventory for each person. Then you have the option to grant any member access to view (read-only) or edit the family inventory. Now your entire family can help build and manage your family’s prepping inventory together.
What if I feel my prepping inventory data may be compromised?
Already ahead of you! We provide the option to lock out any member who has access to your inventory. Not sure which login is compromised? With a single click you can lock all members out of the inventory tool. And, in a worst case scenario (or if you want to start over), you can even choose to wipe your inventory clean. Still not enough? We even provide you with a last line of defense, giving you the ability to wipe your entire account from our system: inventory items, members, your account, and canceling your subscription, all at once.
What information do you collect from me?
Practically nothing. Your entire inventory lives on your device — we never see it, store it, or transmit it. The only thing we keep on our server is an anonymous account token used to manage your subscription. We don't store your name, your address, or anything about what you're prepping. We don't use analytics or tracking of any kind. Frankly, it's no one's business where your survival supplies are kept — not even ours.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes — completely. After your account is activated, the app works fully offline. All of your inventory data is stored locally on your device. An internet connection is only used to verify your subscription status when available. If you're offline, the app defaults to full access using your last known status. We built it this way on purpose — because the times you need your prepping data most may be exactly the times the internet is unavailable.
Can I use the app on multiple devices?
You can back up your inventory to an encrypted `.prep` file and restore it on any device at any time.
Can I move my data from the Underground Prepper website to the app?
Yes! If you were a member on the Underground Prepper website, you can import all of your existing data directly into the app. Just use the "Import your data" option on the home screen and follow the steps.
What happens if I lose my device?
Your inventory is only gone if you never backed it up. That's why we strongly recommend exporting an encrypted `.prep` backup file and storing it somewhere safe. With your backup file and your 12-word recovery phrase, you can restore your full inventory on any new device — no server required.
Why is your app not free?
If you like using those “free” apps for prepping, I got a secret for you. There is no such thing as a “free” app (with very few exceptions). If an app is free, the owners are simply getting money another way, usually through selling your information to 3rd parties who in turn adjust their advertisement to you to buy their products. Or worse, selling your inventory data and storage locations to ‘bad actors’, whether it be government databases, businesses, or even scammers. As for us, we want NO ONE getting your prepping supply information. Why? That’s easy... We use this app too.
Why can’t I just get 1 subscription and share it with all my friends?
You can… but we wouldn’t recommend it. Your prepping inventory should be kept more as a guarded secret. In hard times, friends can easily become competitors for resources. And you ABSOLUTELY NEVER want too many people to know that you have what they need and where they can get it. This is your family’s survival preparations. Keep it a secret! And let others get their own subscriptions.
